Titus II mentorship groups are an exciting addition to this school year.
The groups get their names from lessons taught in Chapter 2 of the book of Titus in the Bible. Titus chapter two specifically highlights the fact that Christians should set a good example and constantly be pouring into younger generations. Titus II: 6-8 says “In the same way, tell the young men to be wise. You should be an example for them in every way by the good things you do. When you teach, be honest, and serious. And your teaching should be clearly right so that you cannot be criticized. Then anyone who is against you will be ashamed. There will not be anything bad they can say about us.”
Titus II groups have reintroduced a previous tradition once held monthly at The King’s Academy. During the current seniors’ seventh grade year, they were placed in groups led by the senior prefects. “Lunch Bunch” allowed them to bond with an upperclassman, share in fellowship with their classmates, and dig deep into Christ’s word. Now, in the 2019-2020 school year, these same seventh graders have come full circle, stepping into their senior year, now leading their own small group of 6thgraders.
I personally was one of those seventh graders years ago. In my seventh-grade year, I was led by Emma Percy, a Senior Prefect at the time. I vividly remember meeting monthly in the Event Center and even one time going over Emma’s house to bake Christmas cookies. My friends and I still talk about it often. It deepened our relationship with the Lord, our relationships with each other, and our relationship with an upperclassman who we could go to for questions and help. I feel so blessed to now be leading a Titus II Group of four sixth graders.
The Titus II Groups were an amazing addition to the 2019-2020 school year and will certainly be remembered. The King’s Academy Administration and Prefects are so excited for this opportunity and are looking forward to continuing this legacy throughout the future of The King’s Academy.
