Upcoming Elections

On November 4, 2020, people will be able to vote for the new president of the United States. We still have a month untill the election so this will give Americans enough time to decide who they are voting for. There are two people running in this year’s 2020 election, and there are also only two parties competing this year.  For the Republican Party the main candidate running is Donald Trump, who was our president these last four years. If he wins the election this year, this will be his last term in the presidency. President Trump has accomplished many achievements while in the presidency, including creating four million new jobs, along with most American’s now employed more than ever in United States history. These are only some of his achievements that might make people swing their vote towards Trump.

The Democratic Party has Joe Biden running for the main position of president. Joe Biden has been running for the role of president since 1988. Before he started running for the presidency, Biden served in the U.S. Senate from Delaware in 1972. This allowed him to gain a higher rank in the political eye. He ran again for the Democratic party in 2008 and lost, but in 2020 he won the Democratic nomination allowing him to run for president in the 2020 election.

This year’s election is considered a more intense election due to the fact that there is the coronavirus pandemic, and other national issues. Along with the pandemic, the recent death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg became a recent tragedy in American History. She fought for women’s rights, along with many other causes. Following RBG’s death, President Trump has released a list of Supreme Court justice nominees. This selection could potentially win him favor from electors, but if it will be enough to secure him another presidential term waits to be seen.
