Twenty years ago America was changed forever. We suffered the tragic loss of many American lives as the World Trade Center was the target of a terrorist attack. First responders gave their lives and will be remembered as heroes. As tragic as the 9/11 attacks were, they created a more united country. On 9/12 flags were sold out and flying high across the country. People were Americans before they were anything else. The citizens of the United States were united in compassion and loss in a way that had never been seen before. We currently live in a very divided America. People are separated base on race, political views, religion, and more. Yet God calls us to act differently. God call us to love our neighbor as ourselves. He calls us to recognize each other as Americans and not based on our differences and disagreements. God calls us to live every day like it is 9/12. He calls us to live every day united with our neighbors and citizens regardless of our views. As we reflect on the 9/11 attacks this weekend I challenge you to begin living every day like it is 9/12. We shall strive to be the united nation that God envisions.
