The story of Joseph is one that has impacted millions around the world due to the inspiring message of forgiveness and repentance. As many Christians know, Joseph was favored by his father over his older brothers, which led to jealousy, resentment, and violence towards him. This worsened after Joseph was given a coat of many colors by their father. His brothers would go on to plot ways to get rid of Joseph which would result in him being sold into slavery.
Joseph would experience turmoil, depression, and pain throughout his life, but he persevered and trusted God along the way. Joseph rose to power from nothing but was still compassionate enough to forgive his brothers when they came to him in need. According to Taylor Cytacki who has been in the Theatre Program for two years says that “Joseph’s story is inspiring because of his immense faith in God and ability to forgive his brothers. It shows how small our problems and petty the grudges are that we hold onto.”
The King’s Academy Theatre Program took on this inspiring story and accurately portrayed the story of Joseph due to Sight & Sounds Production. Our Theatre Program is the only one in the world that has gained the rights to Sight & Sounds Production for the story of Joseph. Sight & Sounds Production is famous for its ability to take biblical stories and make them into shows with unique songs and scripts. The King’s Academy Joseph production included 60-70 people, including the crew to make this show possible. Lauren Karuzas, a dancer in the Theatre Program for three years, says the Joseph production was a “good experience and impactful because doing a biblical show brought everybody closer together in a different way.” The story of Joseph inspired and impacted many audience members due to the message of forgiveness and repentance of others.
